PAPAD urges PMs to work in people’s interests

Kathmandu, April 26:

The Professional’s Alliance for Peace and Democracy (PAPAD) today urged members of the parliament to act responsibly and be transparent in their dealings.

Issuing a press release, PAPAD called on the members who would join the upcoming government to rise above personal interests and work in the broader interests of the people. It also expressed confidence in the capability of the reinstated parliament. “We are confident that the House will address all national issues,” it said.

It also demanded the government force those individuals involved in suppressing the movement to compensate for the damages from their personal coffers. It also urged the government to provide damages to the families of those killed during the stir.

The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) general secretary Dr Kiran Shrestha today warned that the fight against regression had not ended yet. “We must remain vigilant. Our fight against regression may not have ended yet, given the tell-tale signs of conspiracies,” said Dr Shrestha, adding that an increasing number of people hurt during the demonstrations were now showing up at medical facilities, most of them with infections. Pradyumna Khadka with multiple bullet injuries was referred to a New Delhi hospital today. There might be many other hurt persons who are yet to seek medical attention, he added.

The Civil Society Movement for Peace and Democracy today presented the seven-party alliance with a memorandum demanding constituent assembly elections be announced as soon as the parliament convenes.
