Parliament to begin presidential election procedures on Saturday

KATHMANDU: The Parliament on Saturday is beginning procedures to elect new President and Vice-President.

The House meeting called for 3 pm tomorrow would finalise schedules for the elections, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.

The meeting would also assign the Parliament Secretariat's General Secretary to carry out polling preparations and procedures.

The RSS quoted Parliament Secretariat's Assistant Spokesperson Sudarshan Kuinkel that the House would ask parties to give names for the President and Vice-President on the basis of consensus till Sunday.

"If not, it is high likely that the date of Tuesday, October 27, will be fixed for the elections," he added.

The candidates would be allowed to run electioneering campaign on Monday, he added.
