Peace meet in July

Kathmandu, May 25 :

A national conference on peace, reconstruction and development is being organised in the capital from July 9 to 11.

The conference, to be attended by 200 invited participants form academia, politics, civil society and the development sphere, will study various aspects of peace building, including dialogue between the Government of Nepal and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists), management of arms, and restructuring of the state through the constituent assembly process.

Addressing a press conference, co-ordinator of the seminar organising committee Kanak Mani Dixit today said, “In reconstruction, the discussion will tackle both human rehabilitation as well as infrastructure and economic revival. The discussion on development will seek to learn from the success and mistakes of the past to chart the course for the longer term future.”

The Social Science Baha is to serve as the secretariat of the conference.
