Petition seeks formation of new court

KATHMANDU: Advocate Bikas Bhattarai and Janak Raj Acharya on Sunday filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding formation of a traffic court. The first hearing of the case has been scheduled for tomorrow.

The petitioners have named the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, among others, as defendants in the case.

The petitioners have argued that in the absence of traffic court, people who are slapped fines for traffic rule violations were forced to pay the amount fixed by the traffic cops, which was a violation of natural justice.
