Pigeon flying competition

This year’s pigeon flying contest is going to be organised on Saturday. Twenty-three pigeon keepers will participate. The competition is being organised by the Nepal Pigeon Keeper’s Association. As per the rules, the competition will be organised in the homes of the keepers, who should have at least five pigeons. The keepers are allowed to fly a maximum of seven pigeons.

The three pigeons that spend the maximum time on air will be awarded shields, certificates and cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000, while the pigeon that flies for the longest period will receive the title of ‘Best Pigeon of the Tournament’ and a purse of Rs 1,000. An 11-member organising committee had been formed for the fifth pigeon flying competition under the chairmanship of Mohan Krishna Shrestha, the association’s president. The main judge will be Amar Bahadur Basnet while Jitendra Raj Bajracharya, general secretary, will promote the competition.
