Plans afoot to restructure civic body

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is all set to undergo a restructuring and has formed a new taskforce in this regard by revamping the earlier ones.

"The new restructure has been put on hold," said Deepak Koirala, deputy executive chief at the KMC. "We have formed a new taskforce to work out another restructuring," he added.

The taskforce headed by Sarbottam Dangol, member of the all-party mechanism, will submit its report in this regard within three months, Koirala said.

He further said that the taskforce would study on existing and new restructures and come up with the new one. "The team will propose the new structure as per the need of the civic body to deliver services efficiently and faster," he said.

The present restructure of mechanism was formed three years ago. Then, there were 14 departments and 32 sections in the KMC. The new restructure in the administration and management was conceptualised in February, where it was decided to double its departments, divisions and sections.
