PM hopes of generous support from neighbours

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has hoped for generous support from neighbours to help Nepal achieve the goals of prosperity.

During his meeting with China’s visiting Minister of Culture and Tourism, Luo Shugang, at the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar on Thrusday, PM Oli said, "Support and cooperation from the neighbouring countries have been expected to meet the prosperity goals and additional support has been hoped from the close neighbours."

According to PM Oli's foreign affairs advisor Rajan Bhattarai, on the occasion, the prime minister recalling the Nepal-China century-old relations, said the two countries were geographically so close that people of both countries are drinking water from the same mountains.

The Chinese minister apprised the Prime Minister that China was preparing to send maximum number of tourists to Nepal in the Nepal Visit Year 2020 AD. Arrival of Chinese tourists in Nepal this year was 48 percent more as compared to figures in the previous year, he added.

The Chinese are more attracted to Nepal's traditional and cultural heritages, Bhattarai quoted the Chinese minister. Moreover, the visiting Chinese minister suggested that keeping the originality and distinctiveness of such heritages alive during the restoration of earthquake-hit monuments would help Nepal's tourism sector in the long run.
