PM lays foundation stone

KATHMANDU: On the occasion of the first anniversary of Republic Day, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal laid the foundation of the Republic Monument at Ratna Park in Kathmandu on Friday morning. The first meeting of the Council of Ministry of the new government had decided to build the Republic Monument at Ratna Park. According to the officials, the monument would be the most attractive, artistic and tallest structure in Kathmandu. However, the cost and design of the monument is yet to be finalised.

Meanwhile, Uma Kant Jha, Secretary of Physical Planning and Works has clarified that the Republic Monument to be built at Ratna Park will be different from the previous government's plan to build the Republic Memorial at Narahiti Durbar.
