PM urges Far Western University to design curriculum promoting region's identity

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday urged the Far Western University to design curriculum so as to promote the originality and identity of the far-west region.

Addressing the sixth Senate of the University held in Singhadarbar today, Deuba urged the University to ensure the reflection of far west language, culture and indigenousness in its curriculum and contents.

"The act of granting the affiliation (for constituent campuses) should fall under the University priority list," suggested the Prime Minister.

PM Deuba, who is also the Chancellor of the University, wished the University to come up with its plan for self development.

Similarly, speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Gopalman Shrestha informed the Senate that the government was positive toward allocating required additional budget for the University.

On the occasion, University Vice Chancellor Prof Bhushan Shrestha informed that the process to establish 15 constituent campuses last fiscal year was halted in the absence of quota allocation.
