Allow debate on key budget bills: PM to Speaker

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli  and Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar held a meeting at the former's official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday.

During the meeting, PM Oli urged Speaker Magar to allow a debate on the three budget related bills before the discussion over the no-trust motion takes place at the Parliament.

The Prime Minister urged the Speaker to be mindful of the Parliamentary tradition, practices and her own position's decorum by prioritising the budget related calendar, according to PM's press coordinator Chetan Adhikari.

Following the registration of no-confidence motion, Speaker Gharti on July 13 had postponed the House meeting for July 21.

The Parliament was scheduled to discuss on Financial Bill, Bill on Raising Public Debt and Loan and Guarantee Bill on the same day the motion was tabled.

On the occasion, Gharti told the PM that the discussion would take place from July 21.

She also briefed the PM about her continuing consultations with various parties and concerned stakeholders on the subject and made assurance that the process would be dealt with on basis of consensus.
