Police app for better security in Valley

KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Police Commissioner's Office introduced a mobile app that is expected to help members of the public report criminal incidents and get related information.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner, AIG Bigyan Raj Sharma, made the Hamro Police mobile app public on Sunday.

Organising a press conference at his office in Ranipokhari, Sharma said the technology helps police make security arrangements in the Valley more effective.

The app will also promote people's participation in controlling crimes, he added.

With the application, members of the public can send photos and information about any incident to police, float suggestions and get related information from local police offices.

Users of Android and iOS mobile phones can download and use the app.

Police said such an innovation will be extended to other parts of the nation gradually.
