Absconding fraudster held for swindling Rs 2.74 million

KATHMANDU: An absconding convict has been arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau on charge of swindling Rs 2.74 million on pretext of sending foreign job aspirants to Papua new Guinea.

Police said Hari Bahadur Pandey of Lamjung was arrested from Bansbari on Monday.

Pandey had established an unauthorised manpower company, Welcome International Education Foundation and tricked the victims with false hopes of employment in Papua New Guinea.

Pandey was at large after the justice bench of the court convicted Pandey and penalised him an amount of Rs 200,000 and two years jail term.

Meanwhile, police presented the convict at the Kathmandu District Court for execution of the sentence today. After the court order, he has been sent to the Dillibazaar Jail.
