Kathmandu, November 12:

A police team from the Maharajgunj Ward Police Office has seized 10 trucks in the past 10 days on charges of smuggling sand from the Gongabu stream.

Inspector at the ward police station, Ramesh Thapa, said that the trucks have been handed over to the District Development Committee for legal action. “The smuggling of sand from the area has been completely stopped,” Thapa claimed. According to Thapa, the police, however, didn’t arrest the driver and smugglers as there is no provision in the law to punish them.
