Postal strike enters fourth day

Kathmandu, August 5:

Agitating staffers of all postal offices gave continuity to their strike today, too.

As part of the nationwide strike, they came to the offices two hours later than the usual reporting time. Calling for the strengthening of postal services across the country and a 50 per cent hike in their allowances, over 9,000 staffers of the postal offices are on a strike for four days.

They have also demanded financial and administrative autonomy for the postal offices. Ambika Bhattarai, coordinator of the struggle committee, said this type of protest will continue till August 8. “If our demands are not met by August 8, we will hold a meet of the staffers of postal offices in the capital and announce further protests,” he said.
