Pothole-riddled Ason-Tengal stretch giving locals, shopkeepers tough time

Kathmandu, June 19

Locals and shopkeepers are facing hard time as the Ason-Tengal road that was dug for laying Melamchi water pipeline a year ago has not been repaired yet.

Rabiya Shakya, a local, said monsoon rains had made the roads muddy and slippery making movement along the road difficult.

Bikal Manandhar, a shopkeeper, said the road was riddled with potholes, which were filled with rainwater. “We have to supply goods to different places but due to the poor condition of the road, even porters refuse to carry goods,” he added.

According to KMC-25 ward chair Nilkaji Shakya the road was dug for laying drinking water pipeline.  “We are trying to repair the road, but because of continuous rain, repair work has been halted,” he said.

“Locals have been suffering due to lack of coordination among government bodies,” he claimed.
