Prachanda for peaceful struggle

KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today proposed to go for peaceful struggle in the House and streets for peace and new constitution and to safeguard national sovereignty and civilian supremacy.

Presenting a 19-page political document at the politburo meeting of the party that kicked off here this afternoon, Prachanda, however, said the party would go for the national unity government led by it, if other parties agree to correct the President’s decision to reinstate the army chief, according to a politburo member.

The political document, named ‘Role of Proletariats in Present Political Situation’, has analysed the national and international political developments.

Talking to mediapersons, Unified CPN-Maoist’s spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma said the 45-member politburo would discuss on Prachanda’s document tomorrow. Sharma also said the document was recited by Prachanda and later handed to the members.

The document has also analysed the party’s role in the existing political

context, need of taking the peace process to a positive conclusion, army integration and role of the

party in framing the new constitution.
