KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today said that the state’s excesses against journalists was nothing but ‘state-sponsored terror’.

After meeting injured journalists, who are undergoing treatment at Kantipur Hospital in New Baneswor, Prachanda condemned the organised attacks on journalists. Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai accompanied him to the hospital.

A police team led by Superintendent of Police Shyam Khadka had brutally thrashed a number of journalists leaving 12 injured, three of them seriously, in Janakpur on March 22. The journalists

were covering the demonstration against alleged rape of an Indian woman by a police personal.
