Pradeep Gyawali rules out House dissolution
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Pradeep Gyawali, who is considered close to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, said the Prime Minister was not thinking of dissolving the Parliament as an option to end the current constitutional complication.
Speaking with journalists in Bhaktapur today, the UML Secretary said his party was clear that dissolving the legislative body was against democratic norms and values.
"Sher Bahadur Deuba dissolved the Parliament in May 2002, but he could not hold the elections and the nation was thrown into the hand of King Gyanendra," he said, "He pushed the nation toward regression intentionally."
Likewise, the nation got trapped into an array of problems after the then Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai dissolved the first Constituent Assembly in May 2012, he recalled, explaining that the UML therefore did not consider House dissolution as a workable option.
Meanwhile, Gyawali also clarified that the party would leave the government immediately after the no-trust motion would be endorsed at the Parliament.
After leaving the government, the UML would play an active role of constructive opposition and support the Constitution implementation, he said.
Likewise, he also ruled out participation of CPN-UML in the government to be formed after the fall of Oli Cabinet.
