Pregnant inmates’ rights

KATHMANDU:

The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the government authorities to look after pregnant women languishing in jails. A three-member bench comprising justices Khil Raj Regmi, Top Bahadhur Magar and Gauri Dhakal issued the order. The bench directed the Prime Minister’s Office, the Home Ministry and the Department of Prison Management to respect the rights of pregnant inmates. The bench issued the directives responding a writ petition filed by advocate Prakash Mani Sharma and Jhabindra Adhikary.
