Preparations over for International Conference on Gender Equity

KATHMANDU: Preparations for the International Conference on Gender Equity and Social Justice, scheduled to kick off from upcoming Thursday in the Capital, are over.

The Legislature-Parliament's Social Justice and Human Rights Committee is holding the Conference in the Capital on September 22-23.

According to the Committee Chairman Sushil Kumar Shrestha, the Summit would discuss and share the experiences of working in the field.

Claiming that Nepal's Constitution is the best Constitution in the world in terms of gender equity and social justice, Shrestha stressed the need of its effective enforcement to achieve the goal.

Similarly, working papers dealing on the topic of new dimension of democracy in the 21st century will be presented in the Conference.

Bhutan's Minister for Works and Human Settlement Lyonpo Dorji Choden has already arrived in the Capital, leading a 15-member delegation.

Likewise, a 10-member delegation comprising members of the Myanmar's House of Representatives has already landed the Capital.

A delegation from Denmark is expected to arrive by this evening.

Apart from them other leaders and mediapersons would participate in the Summit.
