Press Council to help journalists buy media gadgets after losing them in disasters, demonstrations
KATHMANDU: The Press Council Nepal would support journalists to buy camera, laptop or any other media equipment if the equipment were destroyed in natural disasters or political demonstrations.
The PCN Media Development Fund would cover 25 per cent cost of the equipment in such cases, according to Federation of Nepali Journalists President Mahendra Bista.
The FNJ had requested the PCN to make such provisions, according to a press statement issued by the umbrella organisation of Nepali journalists today.
A PCN Media Development Fund meeting made the decision to this effect on Thursday, according to the FNJ.
To enjoy this facility, journalists have to submit the value-added tax bill of the purchased item as well as a report from the District Administration Office or the District Police Office and a recommendation from the FNJ.
It applies to cases of loss or destruction during natural disasters including earthquakes, political protests or demonstrations and reporting, according to the FNJ.
