Prez appoints Basnet as his legal adviser

KATHMANDU: President Ram Baran Yadav has appointed Advocate Lalit Bahadur Basnet as his legal adviser. The appointment is effective from July 17, according to Chakra Bahadur Budha, a spokesperson for the Office of the President. Earlier, Basnet, a permanent resident of Rimuwa, Gulmi, had been working as a personal aide to President Yadav. As President’s legal adviser, Basnet will enjoy facilities on par with a minister of state, stated a press release.

Two held with gold

KATHMANDU: Police on Wednesday arrested two persons in possession of undeclared gold from Tribhuvan International Airport. Ram Chandra Thanet, 23, of Nawalparasi was held with 875 gram illegal gold. He had landed at TIA from Dubai on a Qatar Airways flight. He was found concealing the gold inside a DVD player during a security scanning at the customs. Similarly, police arrested Dilli Ram Basyal, 24, of Betulibas, Parbat, with 758 gram undeclared gold. Basyal had arrived at TIA from Dubai on a FlyDubai flight.
