Prez calls on ailing Koirala

KATHMANDU: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today called on Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter’s residence in Maharajgunj and wished him speedy recovery.

Octogenarian leader Koirala was taken ill again a week ago, while his health condition now remains unstable, according to his nephew and Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala. “His health condition is not stable and keeps fluctuating,” he said.

President Yadav remained at Koirala’s residence for about 25 minutes. They did not, however, talk politics, he added. “Girijababu is suffering from lung infection and he has become weak and frail as compared to what he was a few days ago,” Dr Koirala said.

The NC president is all set to shift to the residence of his daughter and Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala at Mandikhatar, according to family sources. “Koirala wants to be with his daughter due to his poor health.

He is also feeling inconvenient in the present rented house in Maharajgunj,” family sources said.

Koirala is living in the house with his aides for one-and-a-half years after he resigned as the PM. He will shift to his daughter’s house once she returns from Europe tour next week, the family sources said.
