Prez to unveil policies, programmes

KATHMANDU: The annual policies and programmes for the year 2066-67 will be presented by President Ram Baran Yadav at 4:00 pm, Thursday in the 6th session of the legislative parliament. It was passed on Wednesday by the cabinet of ministers.

The upcoming policies and programmes are expected to give priority to the peace process and the constitution building process. Besides, issues like state restructuring, industrial security, Maoist combatants' rehabilitation, compensation to conflict affected people, employment and price control have been given special attention. The policies and programmes have been designed to make them pro women, pro poor, pro dalit and pro differently able people. At the same time it will also give continuity to the elderly allowance pioneered by the CPN-UML government in the year 2059. According to Subash Nembang, spokesperson of the parliament, a total of 20 hours have been allotted for the discussion on the policies and programmes and 11 hours for the expected revenue and expenditure for upcoming fiscal year. The time for budget presentation have not been decided yet as it has not been passed by the ministry of finance.
