Pro-government demonstrators hit the street in PM Oli's support

Kathmandu, January 09

Cadres affiliated to the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have taken part in a pro-government rally in support of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, on Saturday.

The demonstrators, including those from NCP's youth association Rastriya Yuva Sangh Nepal, came out into the streets of the capital city demanding five more years of PM Oli's term in the upcoming elections.

In recent days, people in multitude have carried out demonstrations, either in support of or against the Prime Minister's controversial move of dissolving the House of Representatives. PM Oli, on December 20, had announced the dissolution of Lower House of the federal parliament and later the same day mid-term elections were declared for April-May 2021.

This caused much chaos among other political parties and the general public. Moreover, this act by the Prime Minister caused a split in his own party, the ruling NCP.
