Probe panel on jail break

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs today informed that a three-member probe panel has been formed in order to investigate jail break and escape of 13 jailbird from a jail in Kanchanpur, on Monday. Jailbird including Raghubir Chand escaped from the jail after taking hold of the guns of on-duty security personnel. The police, however, have arrested four among the escapees.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has formed a panel under the coordination of Shankar Prasad Koirala, joint secretary at the Ministry to investigate into the case. The empowered panel would begin its field investigation from tomorrow and submit its report within the next 15 days. According to the Ministry, Jailer Dhan Bahadur Chand has been suspended as per the Civil Service Act so as to facilitate the investigation process.

Similarly, Police Sub Inspector Bhim Bahadur Bam, Police Personnel Krishna Bahadur Mahat, Prakash Bahadur Singh, Sonu BK, Suresh Singh Dhami, Rabindra Bahadur Shahi have also been under suspension as per the Police Act and Regulation.
