Kathmandu, December 2:

United Nations Special Rapporteur on indigenous people Prof James Anaya today urged the government to put to practice Nepal’s commitment to indigenous people’s rights.

“Though the government has committed to advance the rights of indigenous people, much needs to be done,” said Prof Anaya concluding his nine-day visit to Nepal.

He stressed on the need to develop additional mechanisms in the constitution-making process to directly consult indigenous people.
