Programme appraisal

Kathmandu: Despite various programmes and developmental activities carried out in the districts, the government is yet to carry out their impact assessment. "Although many programmes have been launched and development interventions made in the districts, their impact on the society is yet to be assessed and it is unknown how the programmes have supported the people," said Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, under-secretary, Ministry of Local Development (MoLD). " Of late, MoLD is monitoring the status of people in 15 districts in the current fiscal that ends mid-July. "We have already assigned teams in two districts ,namely Dang and Banke," said Ramesh Aryal, officer, Monitoring Section, MoLD. Those 15 districts are Dang, Jumla, Udayapur, Sunsari, Kavre, Chitwan, Kaski, Nawalparasi, Parsa, Tanahu, Kapilvastu, Humla, Banke, Kailali and Dadeldhura. There are 75 districts across the country. "The monitoring will be continued in the coming fiscal years too," Shrestha added.
