Programme on mental health organised in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: A programme was organised on the occasion of World Mental Health Day at Yala Maya Kendra in Kathmandu on Monday.

The programme was jointly organised by Mental Health For All, Independent Citizen's Coalition, We for Health Nepal, Lumbini College of Buddhism & Himalayan Foundation, and Centre for Research and Sustainable Development Nepal (CREASION) to spread the importance of mental health to the general public.

The programme — with the theme “Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World” — especially emphasised on the participation of youths on the subject of mental health, claiming that youths are the most vulnerable population to suffer the consequences of mental health issues.

Mental health issues are strongly related to our growth, career, and development issues like education, job, family as well as physical, emotional and sexual health, the press statement reads.

The statement further urged all to join hands, start a conversation on mental health and find ways to become mentally healthy and happy.

World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10 worldwide.
