Property worth around Rs 1.6 million stolen from assorted Kathmandu locations

KATHMANDU: Property worth Rs 1.634 million has been stolen from assorted locations of Kathmandu Valley on Thursday and Friday.

Police said unidentified thieves broke into the JJ Light House in Kalanki and decamped with various electricity equipment worth Rs 700,000 on Friday.

Similarly, two motorcycle-borne thieves robbed a woman of Rs 91,000 from Bode of Bhaktapur district on Friday.

Police said the thieves had used a blue and black Pulsar motorcycle for the crime.

It has been learnt that the duo had come from Radhe Radhe of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-10 before robbing local Nilbarahi Primary School's teacher Mayadevi Upreti of Ramechapp district, currently residing at Bode of Bhaktapur district.

In another case, an unidentified gang stole property worth Rs 843,449 from the Changathali Cooperative Ltd at Changathali of Mahalaxmi Municipality-11 in Lalitpur district on Thursday.

Police said the thieves had broken the padlock and decamped with Rs 820,449 cash and a half-tola gold bangle before fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, police said they are searching for absconding suspects and are looking into all the cases.
