Protect rights of disabled: SC
Kathmandu: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a mandamus order to the government authorities to work to protect the rights of the disabled people by formulating policies.
A division bench of Justices Kedar Prasad Giri and Khil Raj Regmi issued the order in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by advocates Prakash Mani Sharma and Tek Tamrakar on behalf of Pro Public. “Work to protect the rights of the disabled by adopting policy and plans as envisioned by the Interim Constitution and the Disabled Protection Rights Act 2039,” the bench ruled.
The bench also told the government authorities to form a committee under the coordination of a government official with the representation of activists working to protect the rights of the disabled and submit to reports to the SC.
