Public must help police check crime: Ex- IGP

A workshop on peace and security, jointly organised by Community Service Centre (CSC) and Community Police Service Centre (CPSC), Maharajgunj concluded here on Sunday.

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) and member of the CSC Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan in his welcome speech informed that to make a society secure, peoples’ involvement and support for the police is the need of the hour.

He said that the locals and police personnel are dependent upon each others and in order to control and investigate the criminal activities it is essential for the both to support and co-operate with each other.

On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Naresh Jung Gurung informed that public support is necessary for successfully controlling and investigating the crimes in the society and the concept of community police has also been formulated to serve the society.

Vice-chairman of the CSC Maharajgunj, Maheswor Sharma presented a working paper of the security issues of the community.

The representatives of 31 local associations and organisations including CSC Chabahil, Neel Saraswoti and Naxal, Community Development Centre Tikhe Dewal, Community Service Committee of Janasewa and New Baneswor, Community Group, Kuleswor, Community Development Service Centre Gongabu, presented their suggestions on the working paper.

Recently 11 CSCs are actively involved in helping the police personnel in controlling and investigating criminal activities in the society.
