KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stressed that the impeachment motion against the suspended Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lok Man Singh Karki must be passed in the Parliament.

In a meeting with a team of human rights activists that reached the PM's residence today, PM said the motion must be passed in order to protect the democracy, informed the PM's Secretariat.

"The major parties are in favour of the motion and are currently doing their homework to pass it," Dahal added.

Led by veteran human rights activist Krishna Pahadi, the team demanded that no person found guilty of human rights violation should be appointed in any constitutional position in the future.

Similarly, the team shared that Nepal should work to ease the tension between India and Pakistan, create an environment to hold the local elections and form a committee to work on the climate change, the PM's Secretariat added.

They also urged the government to start a national campaign against the drug abuse.
