Quality education need of the hour, reminds TU VC

The vice-chancellor of the Tribhuvan University, Prof essor Govinda Prasad Sharma, today said that ensuring quality education to the children of the common people is what the country urgently needs for the development and progress of educational sector in particular, and also of the country in general.

Prof Sharma was speaking at a programme organised by the Gajendra Bidhyabhoosan Medal and Award Trust Management Committee here. On the occasion, Prof Sharma underscored the need for all segments of society to work for the development of the education sector in the country. The vice-chancellor also presented the ‘Gajendra Bidhyabhoosan Medal’’ to Nirajan Tamacho of Wiseland Boarding School and Manisha Regmi of the Birendra Army Boarding School who had secured the highest marks in the School Leaving Certificate(SLC) examinations in 2004.

The vice-chancellor gave away cash prizes of Rs 5,000 each and letters of appreciation to the recipients of the award. Founder of the award trust and former minister, Aishwarya Lal Pradhananga, said the trust has been presenting the award every year with a view to promoting education in Bhaktapur district.

District Education Officer Shambhu Prasad Dahal, former Deans of the Tribhuvan University Prof Prithucharan Baidhya and Prof Sarbagya Bhakta Malla, donor Gajendra Prasad Pradhananga, litterateur Surya Bahadur Piya, Principal of the Birendra Sainik Abasiya Mahavidyalaya Prof Binod Bahadur Shrestha and a cluster of other guests expressed their views.
