Reconstruction of earthquake-damaged heritages in Bhaktapur begins

BHAKTAPUR: The reconstruction and renovation of the earthquake-damaged heritages in Bhaktapur Municipality have begun with the financial assistance of the German Government.

The reconstruction of the quake-hit heritages formally launched amidst a programme at the Dattatraya-based Pujari Math on Friday. The German Development Bank, Nepal Government and the Bhaktapur Municipality have jointly funded the reconstruction drive.

German Government representatives, Chair of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Narayanman Bijukchhe and representatives of the Bhaktapur Municipality and Department of Archeology were present in the launching programme.

The reconstruction and renovations efforts will include the Pujari Math Panchtale (five-storied temple), National Art Museum, the old building of the Bhaktapur Municipality and Bidhyarthi Niketan School, among others.

The German Government has provided Rs 1.19 billion while the government releases Rs 220 million and the Bhaktapur Municipality Rs 100 million for the reconstruction and renovation of earthquake hit heritages inside the Bhaktapur Municipality, according to Museum Chief Aruna Nakarmi.
