Relief pours in for flood-hit

Kathmandu, July 30:

Several organisations today announced donations for the flood-hit people in the Tarai region.

The Nepali Congress (NC) today announced that its district unit committees of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur will be initiating a campaign to collect relief materials for the flood and landslide affected people in the capital.

This was decided at the end of the meeting today which was headed by NC General Secretary KB Gurung. Party Vice President Sushil Koirala was also present at the meeting.

Nepal Army has chipped in with Rs 3.4 million for the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund.

The senior army officers will part with a few days’ salary for the flood victims. Nepal Army’s rank and file are also doing their bit for the victims, a statement issued on Monday said.

Likewise, the employees at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are contributing a few days’ salary to aid those affected by flood and landslide, MoFA said.

Meanwhile, the Reporters’ Club today collected Rs 11,000 and clothes for flood victims. A team of journalists, student leaders, actors Madan Krishna Shrestha, Rekha Thapa, Dr Bhola Rijal and singer Ram Krishna Dhakal collected the relief fund from different shops from Putalisadak and Bhrikutimandap areas.
