Kirtipur, June 21:

The number of accidents has not decreased even after the reconstruction of the road from Teenkune to Panga Dobato in Kirtipur. The road passing through Naya Bazar to Panga Dobato is narrow and full of turns. Locals and heavy vehicle drivers have been facing problems. The situation becomes unmanageable when two heavy vehicles come from opposite directions. "The road is very narrow and it passes through the centre of the market," said a driver, Sanjan Singh. Many children are found playing on the street, as the road passes through houses on both sides. "The vehicles pass by our houses, increasing chances of accidents," said Manik Lal Maharjan, a local. The Mayor of Kirtipur municipality, Sishir Dhital, said the road was constructed recently at a cost of Rs 3.2 million.
