RJP to decide Sunday on whether to vote Deuba for PM

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who has registered his candidacy for the post of Prime Minister, has urged the Rastriya Janata Party NepalĀ  for supporting him in the election of the Prime Minister taking place in the Parliament tomorrow.

Deuba called the top leaders of the RJP Presidium at the Nepali Congress parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar today and urged the RJP Nepal in writing to back him.

The NC president has made the request in writing to other small parties also to garner support in his favour in the Prime Ministerial vote.

The RJP Nepal, which was formed with the merger of six various Madhes-centric parties, has 24 lawmakers.

Sharat Singh Bhandari, a member of the RJP Presidium, said that in the meeting the Nepali Congress president placed the request for support in writing to the RJP.

"Our party's meeting scheduled for Sunday will decide whether or not to support Deuba," Bhandari said.
