Robbery, shooting in valley

Kathmandu, June 10:

A gang of five armed persons looted cash worth Rs 111,000 from Cash-in Money Transfer in Kantipath this morning.

According to the police, the armed gang struck the money transfer office when there was only one staff inside the office. “They showed khukuris and decamped with the money from the counter,” the police quoted the staffer as saying.

Meanwhile, in another incident in Tahachal, two persons shot at a taxi driver, Ramhari Bohara of Koteshwor, today.

Two persons hired the taxi from Thamel and asked the taxi driver to take them into an inner alley upon reaching Tahachal, the police said, adding that when Bohara refused, they shot at him. “They opened fire when I tried to beat them up with a wooden stick thinking the pistol was fake,” the taxi driver told the police in Bir Hospital.

Later, the Bir Hospital referred injured Bohara to the B&B Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
