Roll back fuel price hike: Trade unions

Kathmandu, June 12:

The Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre (JTUCC) today demanded the government roll back the petroleum price hike, remove the former king and queen from the Nagarjun palace, and end labour exploitation by outsourcing offices.

The JTUCC is the umbrella organisation of seven trade unions: Nepal Trade Union Congress-Independent, General Federation of Nepali Trade Union, All Nepal Trade Union Federation, Confederation of Nepali Professionals, Nepal Trade Union Federation, All Nepal Trade Union Congress, and Nepal Progressive Trade Union Federation.

Issuing a press release, the JTUCC said the steep hikes in the prices of petroleum products have affected commoners.

It urged the government to revoke the price hike decision.

The press statement asked the government not to allow the ex-king and his kin stay in Nagarjun and Narayanhiti palaces.

JTUCC said that since the outsourcing law and its systems are being removed, the outsourcing offices should stop labour exploitation and provide appointment letters to their employees at the earliest.
