KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party has decided to observe Poush 27 of Nepali calendar(January 11), the birth anniversary of the late King Prithvi Narayan Shah, as the National Day.

The birth anniversary of late King Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal, used to be observed as Prithvi Jayanati until the country switched to a republic system in 2008.

The recent Central Working Committee meeting of the party took a decision to this effect.

Similarly, the meeting decided to advise the government on the possible ways for sorting out the ongoing Madhes agitation.
