Sajha Yatayat to operate buses on Bhaktapur route

Kathmandu, May 23

With the Department of Transport Management granting route permit, Sajha Yatayat buses are all set to ply the Bhaktapur route from tomorrow.

According to Sajha, 20 buses will ply the Bhaktapur-Tripureshwor-Kalimati-Swoyambhu route.

Sajha is beginning its service in Bhaktapur amid protest by local transport entrepreneurs. Although Sajha had demanded permit for two routes, it got permit to ply its buses on on one route.

More than 40 Sajha buses have been plying in and outside Kathmandu after the organisation was revived four years ago. Sajha Yatayat’s immediate goals are to revive its operations in the Valley, increase public goodwill and visibility, and maximize sustainability, while developing a more profitably restructured entity as its medium and long-term goals.

After about a decade of closing service outside Kathmandu, Sajha Yatayat had revived its long route service outside Kathmandu on October 2 last year.

Sajha Yatayat, a cooperative public transport organisation, was established in 1961/62 to provide efficient and affordable public transportation to commuters in Kathmandu Valley and inter-district travellers.
