SC adjourns hearing on Bharatpur re-polls till Sunday
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing on the writ filed on the re-elections in Bharatpur Metropolitan City till July 23.
A joint bench of Om Kumar Mishra and Purushottam Bhandari decided to conduct the hearing on Sunday after time constrains today.
Earlier, the hearing was deferred till June 12 due to lack of time
The writ was filed by the CPN-UML candidate for member of Bharatpur Metropolis 19 Gunjaman Bishwakarma and advocate Tulasi Pandey seeking resumption of vote counting.
Election officers had halted vote counting in Bharatpur Metropolis after 90 ballot papers were torn allegedly by CPN-Maoist Centre cadres on May 29.
The Election Commission had formed a three-member monitoring team to probe into the incident related to tearing of ballot papers by CPN-Maoist Centre cadres in course of counting votes of ward no 19 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
