SC begins groundwork for second strategic plan

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has begun groundwork to prepare the second strategic plan for the judiciary, as the first five-year strategic plan is getting over in mid-July.

"We have begun drafting the plan," assistant spokesperson, SC, Hemanta Rawal, said. Rawal also said the apex court decided to implement the second strategic plan after achieving positive results from the first plan.

The apex court has formed a panel led by SC Justice Kalyan Shrestha to draft the plan. The panel has Appellate Court Judge Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, SC Registrar Dr Ram Krishna Timalsena, District Court Judge Binod Sharma and a representative each from the National Planning Commission and Ministry of Finance as members. The panel has already started its job.

Before compiling its draft plan, the panel will also consult with the Nepal Bar Association and the Supreme Court Bar Association for their inputs to the future strategic plan.
