Kathmandu, June 14 :

The Nepal Cancer Relief Soceity (NCRS) has welcomed the Supreme Court decision of issuing an order to ban smoking in public places.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, it said “it is a firm step towards achieving a goal as envisaged by the NCRS to make Nepal a tobacco-free country.”

According to the society, about 15,000 Nepali die of the diseases caused by tobacco consumption every year. It has appealed to the government to make effective laws immediately and monitor its effective implementation.
