SC moved seeking end to LPG crisis
Kathmandu, September 28:
A public interest litigation was filed in the Supreme Court today seeking the apex court’s order to the government to ensure a smooth supply of cooking gas in the Kathmandu valley.
Advocate Bal Krishna Neupane claimed in his petition that the decision of the government and Nepal Oil Corporation to effect a massive hike in transport costs had given rise to the gas shortage. He asked the apex court to nullify the decision. The petitioner asked the apex court to issue a stay order at the earliest to ease gas supply.
The Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet, the Ministry of Commerce and Supply, the NOC and the LPG Association have been made the defendants.
