SC rules in Gurung’s favour

Kathmandu, January 19

The Supreme Court today refused to issue an interim order in a writ petition filed against Sabitri Thapa Gurung, a commissioner at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority.

A joint bench of Justice Sushila Karki and Justice Devendra Shrestha refused to issue interim order as demanded by petitioner Ramesh Kafle.

A division bench of Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha and Justice Jagadish Sharma Poudel had sought files from Gurung on January 12 after Kafle in his petition claimed that she was enjoying dual facilities as an associate professor of Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus and CIAA commissioner.

The SC said Gurung had resigned as the associate professor before assuming the post of CIAA commissioner.
