Kathmandu, January 17:
The Supreme Court today ordered the government to produce a copy of its decision on deploying government officials on contract basis, which comes in contradiction with the Civil Service Act 1991.
A division bench of justices Anup Raj Sharma and Sharada Shrestha today issued the order following the hearing conducted today. The bench also ordered the government to clarify why it issued the Service Contract Directives 2002 allowing appointment of civil servants in contract basis, violating the Civil Service Act 1991. Secretary general of Employees Organisation, Bhola Pokhrel, had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court opposing the issuance of the Directives a year ago.
