Karki summoned over obstruction of SC summons delivery

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday summoned the suspended chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lok Man Singh Karki, on his alleged involvement in the delivery of its earlier summons related to the review of his eligibility and appointment in the anti-graft constitutional body.

A single bench of Justice Ananda Mohan Bhattarai summoned Karki to be present before the apex court with a clarification within seven days on why the SC's employees were obstructed from delivering the apex court's summons at his residence in Baneshwor.

The order issued by Justice Bhattari has told Karki to forge clarification within seven days why he should not face action as per the existing rules for the obstruction. Karki would not be allowed to send a representative and should be present himself in person before the apex court.

Advocate Om Prakash Aryal on November 3 had filed the writ against Karki, his son-in-law Prabal Thapa, former law secretary Pramod Karki, Assistant Sub-inspector Nakul Gautam and others for obstructing the SC employee from serving the apex court’s summons.

The SC further ordered to find out the identity and address of the person who claimed to be the chairman of local ward civil forum while obstucting the summons delivery and summon him.
