Schools to get teaching manuals soon
Kathmandu, August 7:
The Curriculum Development Centre (CDC), Sanothimi, is all set to send copies of a comprehensive booklet on teaching manual to all district education offices and schools within a week, Haribol Khanal, director at the CDC, said. The cabinet had taken the decision to this effect on July 7.
The booklets are being sent with the objective of enabling the teachers to teach students as demanded by the changed political situation, Khanal said.
“Since no major changes can be made in the already-printed school-level textbooks, all of which have already been printed, the CDC is sending copies of the booklet to all the schools and district education offices to guide them,” said Khanal.
According to the booklet, his majesty’s government shall be referred to as Nepal government, Nepal Adhirajya shall be referred to as Nepal Rajya and the word ‘Royal’, which figures, among other names, on the Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation and the Royal Nepal Army, should be dropped.
The booklet has directed schoolteachers not to take classes on the chapters figuring Raj Parishad, Royal Crown, National anthem, Hindu State, 1990 constitution, and the appointment of the chief of constitutional bodies.
The initiation was taken on the recommendation of the curriculum reform suggestion committee. The committee had forwarded a report on reforming the curricula to the Education ministry.
